Azamgarh: HIV test of prisoners is being done on the orders of the court in Hi-Tech Jail built in Azamgarh district of UP. The purpose is to find out how many inmates are HIV infected in the jail. In the latest investigation report, ten jail inmates have been found HIV positive. It is being told that many prisoners are avoiding getting investigated.
There are a total of 2500 female and male prisoners in the jail. According to the information, many prisoners are not participating in the process of HIV testing going on in Azamgarh Jail. So far half the prisoners have been investigated, in which 10 prisoners have been found HIV infected so far.
Along with this, HIV has not been confirmed in any female captive. The Health Department said that 1,322 prisoners have been investigated so far. Chief Medical Officer Dr. IN Tiwari said, “The prisoners are being tested for HIV on the orders of the court. So far a total of 10 patients have been found to be HIV positive. All of them have been kept like normal prisoners.”
CMO said – medicines are being given to the prisoners
The CMO said, “The prisoners are currently being given medicines. If a prisoner has any problem, then treatment will be started accordingly. HIV is of two types. The infection is either through transfusion of infected blood or it is unsafe. It is done by having sex. At present, it is being investigated as to how the prisoners got infected.”
