1536 “rozgar melas” held during its second term: Anil Rajbhar
Lucknow : As part of its commitment to empowering the youth in the state, the Yogi government has provided jobs to over 1.72 lakh youths through the ‘Rozgar Melas’ in its second term, said Labour and Employment Minister Anil Rajbhar.
Speaking on Friday during the Vidhan Sabha session, he informed that the Yogi government has so far held 1536 “rozgar melas” during its second term, resulting in the employment of 1,72,291 youths throughout the state.
Additionally, he said, “during its six-year tenure, the Yogi government has employed about 7.5 lakh youths through employment fairs.”
Details of employment fairs organised in 6 years
In response to a question asked by Vidhansabha member Atul Pradhan, Labour and Employment Minister Anil Rajbhar presented the details of the last six years. He said that employment fairs are being organized by the employment offices of the state outside the office premises or at specific locations. In these fairs, there is a provision for participation by the candidates desirous of employment relative to the vacancies notified by the private sector employers. In these employment fairs, not only urban but also candidates desirous of employment from rural areas are included.
Each year, there has been a consistent rise in the number of fairs held. In 2017-18, as many as 63,152 youths were provided employment through 633 job fairs, while in 2018-19, 1,03,202 got employment in 685 job fairs.
In 2019-20, 733 job fairs were organised in the state employing about 1,43,304 youths; 1,47,499 jobs were given through 869 job fairs in 2020-21, and in 2021-22, 822 job fairs provided 1,17,430 jobs.
In the second term, that is, till January 31, 2023, 1536 job fairs have been organized, in which 1,72,291 jobs have been given.
Sewamitra platform designed for skilled workers-
Maintaining that the Yogi government is trying to connect skilled workers with employment, Anil Rajbhar said, “ Sewamitra platform (portal sewamitra.up.gov.in/ Sewamitra App / Call Center) has been arranged on behalf of the government to provide employment opportunities to skilled workers at the local level and to provide local services (plumber, carpenter, painter, electrician, driver etc.) to the general public and government departments.
According to the registration number on the Sewamitra portal, till February 13, 2023, the number of skilled workers in the state is 33,913 and the number of service providers is 753. 3839 Sewamitra are also added in this.
Yogi government making potters self-reliant-
In response to a question asked about Prajapati potters, the Labour and Employment Minister said that the Yogi government of the state is sensitive about their employment. For this, Mati Kala Board has also been formed by the government. In addition to this, we are providing them with electronic chalk so they can complete their work conveniently. Apart from this, the government has also made arrangements for a 24-hour power supply for them.
Financial help being given to Home Guard volunteers-
Responding to a question regarding Home Guards, Finance Minister Suresh Khanna said that many important works have been done by the state government for the Home Guard Department. A petition regarding their regularization has been rejected in the Supreme Court, however, the Yogi government has taken important steps for their financial help. Under this, in 2018, their daily allowance was increased from Rs 375 to Rs 500. In 2019, it was further increased by Rs 100 totalling to Rs 600. Not only this, if any jawan of the Home Guard Department becomes crippled or dies due to an accident while on duty, arrangements have also been made to provide Rs 5 lakh to his family members from the government. It is worth mentioning that at present a total of 81,303 Home Guards volunteers are working in the state.
