New Delhi: Farmers have been camping at the Delhi border for the last 14 days and the demands to withdraw the agricultural laws, continues to be a prime moot point. In continuation of the ongoing dialogue on the matter Opposition parties will be meeting the President of India, Ram Nath Kovind.
The five opposition faces meeting the President will include Gandhi scion Rahul Gandhi, NCP chief Sharad Pawar, CPI (M) general secretary Sitaram Yechury. The delegation has just 5 leaders because of the COVID -19 protocols. Giving this information was the General Secretary of the CPI(M) Sitaram Yechury.
The sixth round of talks between farmers and the central government was cancelled, after the meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah failed to bear fruit. The farmer leaders have openly shown the government offer to amend new farm laws a thumbs down. They reportedly will settle for nothing less than the scrapping of the legislations.
The Centre meanwhile plans to send a proposal to the farmers detailing the scope of negotiations over the new agricultural laws. Farmers, mostly from Punjab and Haryana, have been protesting against the laws for nearly two months.
