ACS Navneet Sehgal inspects Dr. Karni Singh Shooting Range
Lucknow: Additional Chief Secretary, Sports and Youth Affairs, Government of Uttar Pradesh, Navneet Sehgal visited the Dr. Karni Singh Shooting Range on the outskirts of the national capital to oversee the preparations ahead of the 3rd Khelo India University Games (KIUG).
KIUG2022 Uttar Pradesh will be held from May 25 to June 03, 2023. The shooting competition will be held in Delhi while the other 20 competitions will be held in four cities of UP including Lucknow – the state capital, Lucknow, Varanasi, Gorakhpur and Noida.
Sharing his views after the visit, Sehgal said, “The National Rifle Shooting Championship is being held here, so I think all the preparations will be done in a day or two. But yes we are very close to the games and we should be ready to give them international facilities for the games as well as accommodation, transport and catering. So we are trying to provide it. This is a huge event for the state. For the first time a national level multi sport event is being held here. This will encourage local sportspersons to do better in life and pursue sports as a career.
This will also be the first edition of KIUG to see water-sports action in the form of rowing at the Water Sports Academy in Gorakhpur. The opening ceremony is scheduled for May 25, 2023 in Lucknow while the competitions will begin with Kabaddi on May 23, 2023 in Noida. Honorable Prime Minister Narendra Modi will also be present virtually at the inauguration ceremony.
