After KL Rahul, Mark Wood exits LSG for rest of the season

Lucknow: The Lucknow Super Giants are having a difficult time during the current Indian Premier League (IPL) season. LSG have run into some difficulties after their past three games saw two defeats and one no result. Additionally, Krunal Pandya has taken over as captain after previous skipper KL Rahul was forced to miss the remainder of the season owing to injury.
Now as the playoff race is becoming more competitive with each game, LSG has now lost its important fast bowler Mark Wood for the balance of the IPL season. After the team’s game against the Gujarat Titans, which they lost by 56 runs, he departed the camp on Sunday. Soon, Wood and his wife will have a child, and the cricketer wants to be at home for this memorable occasion.
Given that LSG are experiencing serious ball control issues after giving up 227 runs in their last match, Wood’s defeat is significant. Despite playing in just four games, Wood is the second-highest wicket-taker for them and one of their best bowlers. Before being sick and missing the final few games for the franchise, he had taken 11 wickets. Wood is optimistic that he will return to participate in the remaining games of the season, despite it seems doubtful that he would do so.
“For the birth of my daughter, an excellent excuse to return home, but sad. I may be able to return so you can see me play a game. I regret not playing in more games, but I did manage to pick up a few wickets in the four that I did play, so perhaps I can start charging again. One last effort to attempt and reach those playoffs and the championship game. That is the objective, and we all recognise it. Sports are difficult; you win some and lose some, but the guys are working hard at the gym. I know how hard people are working because I have personally seen it.
There are some wonderful people in the organisation, and they go above and above for your team. Keep supporting them and believing in them, and I’m certain that they’ll succeed. And the team’s players have done a great job of integrating me, so I feel pleased to wear this jersey. Thank you to the viewers and to everyone else; I had a great time. Best Wishes,” Wood wished.
