Lucknow: An important meeting was held by the District Magistrate and the Commissioner of Police to prevent misuse of Personal Arms Licenses as the Panchayat elections near. Instructions for depositing of arms of the district’s personal arms license holders have been issued.
Chaired by the DM and Commissioner of Police, the District Magistrate said that in view of the Panchayat elections, the action of submitting the arms of the personal license holders in the district should be ensured. Instructions have also been given to verify arms shops. Meanwhile, the number of cartridges will also have to be verified and the purchasers of maximum cartridges should also be verified as to where they were used.
They have been instructed to conduct 100 per cent inspection of all the weapon holders in the district.
According to mandate, 80 per cent of the lost deposits should also be ensured at the time of purchasing the cartridges.
Suspension of the licenses of persons of criminal nature is also under consideration in the district.
The District Magistrate has said all arms businessmen should provide a list of ten arms license holders who purchased the most cartridges.
The Election Commission will also have to ensure strict compliance with the code of conduct and instructions issued.
