Aim should be to increase women voters in Uttar Pradesh – Chief Electoral Officer

Lucknow: The Chief Electoral Officer of the state  Ajay Kumar Shukla has given important instructions  in the office of the Chief Electoral Officer, Auditorium, in connection with the 13th National Voters’ Day on January 25, 2023, in a meeting with the officers of the concerned departments. He said that on January 25, 2023, on the occasion of National Voters’ Day, oath programs should be organized in all departments. All the departments will ensure that the names of their personnel and their relatives are in the voter list on National Voter’s Day. He stressed on increasing the percentage of women in the voter list. He said that voter awareness programs should also be organized at the departmental level, so that the percentage of voting can increase.

The Chief Electoral Officer said that voter ID card is not only an identity card of the citizens, but also gives the right to vote. He said that wide publicity of voter awareness programs should also be done through social media. He instructed to conduct voter awareness program in educational institutions.

The Chief Electoral Officer said that on January 25, 2023, the 13th National Voters’ Day will be organized at the districts as well as at the state level. This program will be organized at Indira Gandhi Pratishthan, Lucknow. On the occasion of 13th National Voters’ Day, Prabhat Pheri, Half Marathon, Slogan Writing, Photo Exhibition, Henna, Essay Writing Competition, Song Competition, Skits Competition, Online Competition etc. will be organized through the colleges.

The Chief Electoral Officer said that the facility of various IT platforms of the Commission is available for online voter registration. Mapping of disabled voters should be done to include maximum number of disabled voters in the electoral rolls and to provide facilities to them.

The Chief Electoral Officer said that in accordance with the instructions of the Election Commission of India, the work of voluntary Aadhaar number collection of voters of all Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha constituencies is being done online and offline. He told that 04 qualifying dates have been fixed every year for adding names to the voter list, in which 01 January, 01 April, 01 July and 01 October. On or before these dates any citizen who is completing or has completed 18 years of age can get his name included in the voter list.

In the meeting, Additional Chief Electoral Officer  Chandrashekhar,  Ratnesh Singh, Additional District Magistrate Administration  Vipin Kumar Mishra, Joint Chief Electoral Officer  Manish Kumar Shukla, Assistant Chief Electoral Officer  Sunita Singh including Transport, Urban Development, Institutional and Finance, Bharat Scout and Officials of Guide, Disabled Empowerment, Medical and Health, Commercial Tax, Housing Development, Municipal Corporation, Sports, Post Office, Information, NSS, Youth Welfare and PRD, NCC, All India Radio, Doordarshan, Railway, Secondary Education, Civil Defense etc. departments were present.
