Jaipur: There is one year left for the assembly elections in Rajasthan. Who is the Chief Minister in the state? Discussions are going on. Meanwhile, Congress’s state in-charge Ajay Maken has decided to distance himself from the post. A letter in this regard has also been handed over to the new national president of the party, Mallikarjun Kharge. Now the questions are what will be the political significance of this decision of the Congress veteran?
Maken wishes that he should be relieved of the responsibility of Rajasthan. Now possibilities are being raised that the leader’s decision may increase difficulties for Kharge, who recently took charge of the party at the national level. Actually, the issue is not of Maken’s resignation but of the issue raised by him while leaving the post.
Was Maken unhappy with the lack of action?
Notices were issued against three Congress leaders who had convened another meeting of the Legislature Party in Jaipur on 25 September. Action was also talked about against these three leaders who are considered close to Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, but almost two months have passed and no action has been taken till now. It is being said that Maken was saddened by this. There are reports that this is an issue, but the delay on the part of the Congress high command could also be the reason behind Maken’s resignation. It is being said that the big question is whether the Congress leadership wants a change of command in Rajasthan or not.
High command attitude
On September 29, All India Congress Committee General Secretary KC Venugopal had said that a decision would be taken on Rajasthan in a day or two. For the time being, the question remains that what will be the verdict? The Sachin Pilot faction is hopeful that there will be a change of command in the state. Pilot’s camp is claiming that Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi have promised to make him the CM before the elections.
How easy is it to take action?
Due to the support CM Gehlot is getting from the MLAs, it may be difficult for Kharge to take action. At present, no action is being taken by the party against Shanti Dhariwal, party’s Chief Whip Mahesh Joshi and RTDC President Dharmendra Rathore is also being seen as a sign.
Now the question is also about the timing of Maken, because the Bharat Jodo Yatra led by Rahul Gandhi is also going to enter Rajasthan. In such a situation, the party would not like to take any such step, which would affect the yatra. Another question is also arising that what will happen when the Padyatra completes the Rajasthan leg?
