Lucknow: Amidst the much talked about bypolls with the name of Dimple Yadav being announced for the Mainpuri seat after it was left vacant post Mulayam Singh Yadav’s demise, Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav has now played his card.
The Yadav scion has alleged that a large number of supporters of Samajwadi Party voters were “wrongly removed” from the voter list in the 2022 assembly elections. He said this led to the party losing to BJP earlier this year.
These allegations have been levelled by Akhilesh Yadav via a six-page letter to the Election Commission. Yadav is now demanding a thorough inquiry on the alleged cases of tampering with voter lists.
To make a case for the party, Akhilesh Yadav has sent documents including proof of those names and the reply to the complaints made to the Chief Electoral Officer, Lucknow and the Chief Election Commissioner, New Delhi.
In the letter written it is specified – “A demand was made to investigate the information received from workers, supporters, citizens and media reports about depriving voters of voting, but no investigation was done.”
His last pointed demand has been the inclusion of a representative of the Samajwadi Party at the time of the investigation.
