All eyes on crucial Mamata, Akhilesh meet in City of Joy
Kolkata: On March 17, West Bengal Chief Minister and TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee will meet with the head of the Samajwadi Party, Akhilesh Yadav, at Banerjee’s home, according to a senior party official.
In order to debate policies and plans for the upcoming assembly elections in three Hindi-speaking states later this year as well as the Lok Sabha elections in 2024, the Samajwadi Party will hold its two-day national executive in Kolkata beginning on March 18.
“Akhilesh Yadav will visit Mamata Banerjee at her home on March 17. Even though it’s a courtesy visit, they’ll talk about the nation’s political predicament, “Kiranmoy Nanda, vice president of SP, stated.
In addition to the Bengal CM, Abhishek Banerjee, national general secretary of the Trinamul Congress, is “also expected to be there,” according to TMC sources.
A TMC leader said that the topic of government agencies intimidating opposition parties will also be discussed during the meeting.
Yadav and Banerjee have an extremely friendly connection.
Yadav had declared his support for the TMC during the Bengal assembly elections of 2021, and Banerjee had done the same when she campaigned for the former Uttar Pradesh chief minister during the 2022 elections in that state.
After an 11-year hiatus, the Samajwadi Party’s national executive will be held in Kolkata.
