All pre flood preparations should be complete before June 15 – Swatantra Dev Singh

Lucknow: Jal Shakti Minister of Uttar Pradesh,  Swatantra Dev Singh, held a review meeting regarding pre-flood preparedness and flood projects being implemented in the state, in the auditorium of the Irrigation and Water Resources Department, Udayganj, and gave necessary guidelines to the departmental officers.

He gave instructions that all preparations for flood protection should be completed by June 15 in each case. He asked the officers to work hard. He directed the departmental officers to complete all the under-construction flood projects within the stipulated time.

In the meeting, Jal Shakti Minister discussed various points of pre-flood preparedness (meeting of steering group in districts, flood control room, wireless center, repair work of embankments, identification of vulnerable/sensitive places and completion of possible flood projects before monsoon and work at work sites). Did an in-depth review on the functionality of the cameras).

Instructing in the review meeting, the Jal Shakti Minister said that any kind of negligence will not be tolerated in the projects under construction, strict action will be taken against the concerned if negligence is found. Get the projects under construction completed keeping in mind the quality and time limit.

The Jal Shakti Minister also said during the meeting that special attention should be paid to flood-prone and sensitive districts and regular weekly meetings should be held regarding timely completion of under-construction projects and pre-flood preparations. He said action will be taken against the concerned by fixing accountability if any kind of negligence is found in flood sensitive districts.

The Jal Shakti Minister directed to ensure timely completion of dredging and channelisation works, along with this the cleaning of drains should also be completed on time. It is noteworthy that there are total 10727 drains in the state, whose total length is 60047 km. In the meeting, Principal Secretary, Irrigation and Water Resources Department,  Anil Garg assured the minister that best compliance would be ensured on the instructions given by you.

Chief Engineer and Head of Department  Anil Kumar, Chief Engineer Design and Planning  Alok Kumar Jain, Chief Engineer Project Akhilesh Kumar, Chief Engineer Mechanical  Devendra Agarwal and other concerned officers including Regional Chief Engineers were present in the review meeting.
