New Delhi: During the visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, 157 artefacts have been returned to India by the United States. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has praised the United States after the statues were returned by the United States.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Joe Biden have agreed to make strenuous efforts to stop illegal trade and theft of cultural goods.
These total 157 artifacts list range from one and a half meter base relief panels of Revanta in sandstone of 10th CE to 8.5 cm long bronze Nataraja sets. These are very valuable. Most of these items are historical artifacts from the 11th CE to the 14th CE. At the same time, about 45 artifacts are from before the Common Era.
It also houses the exquisite bronze Nataraja statue of 12th CE. These include sculptures from 11th CE to 14th CE besides many other historical artifacts. An anthropomorphism made of copper dating back to 2000 BC is also included. Of these gifts received from the United States, half the artifacts i.e. about 71 artifacts are cultural. There are more than half the idols which are related to Hinduism, Buddhism and Jainism. These idols have been made through metal, stone and terracotta.
Among the bronze artifacts are ornate sculptures of famous postures of Lakshmi Narayan, Buddha, Vishnu, Shiva Parvati and 24 Jain Tirthankaras. Also the motifs include religious sculptures of Hinduism with three heads Brahma, Surya with chariot, and Vishnu.
