Lucknow: In a unique facility in the state capital,Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath recently inaugurated the Apollomedics Hospital’s liver transplant program CM Yogi said that now people of the state will get the facility of a complex surgery like liver transplant. He added it is the endeavour of the government that medical facilities are available at affordable rates to the people of the state in private and government institutions. In the coming time, the transplant program of Uttar Pradesh will be a model across India. Organ transplant is expensive, but life is precious. He was addressing the inauguration ceremony.
The Chief Minister called upon the government and private health institutions to work on PPP model for self-reliance in the field of medicine and health. He said that medical science has made great progress. Now bypass surgery is taking place like general surgery. Liver, kidney transplant facilities are gaining momentum in the capital.
Prior to Corona, 36 districts did not have a single ICU ventilator bed. They are currently available in 75 districts. MBBS will be admitted to 15 new medical colleges from the next academic session. The roadmap for setting up 30 new medical colleges is ready. Two AIIMS have opened in the state. Treatment is being provided to patients here.
Apollo MD Mayank Somani said that we have transplanted more than 50 kidneys. Soon, Heart, Lung, Bonemarrow and Tissue Transplant will also start. A special liver functions every Thursday for liver patients. The founding chairman of the hospital, Dr. Pratap C. Reddy, said that in 1998, Apollo Hospital had made a fresh start by having the first successful paediatric liver transplant of a 20-month-old baby Sanjay in India. Sanjay has now become a doctor himself.
The cost of transplanting between the patient and the donor is about 15 to 25 lakhs. In patients whose condition is better, the expenditure is reduced automatically.
