Lucknow: Artists are suddenly feeling the pressure, as they are unable to put their artwork on display with missing audiences. At such times, Lucknow and its arts connoisseurs have provided a platform wherein there is not just a healthy exchange of artworks, but also a discussion on the future of art post the pandemic.
In such times – “Astana Art Forum”, has made a special contribution to art taking a great initiative. Taking the digital route, it has launched a special program “Open Spaces.
The first in the series is an “Online Art Talk and “Studio Visit”. On the first day of this special event, noted artist and curator Akshat Sinha from New Delhi and senior Sri Lankan artist Sarath Gunasiri Pereira joined as guest artists.
Curator Akshat Sinha discussed with him in detail his life themes and art journey in Kalavarta . Sarath Gunasiri Perera works in the oil painting medium of abstract art. Pereria, who had done masters in art from Banaras Hindu University in 1996 said how he started his art with Figurative Art, but soon after being influenced by the ongoing situation in the country, he turned himself towards Amartan art.
Perhaps these mediums are particularly helpful in presenting their ideas. Since 2013, he has consistently presented intellectual thinking and lifestyle through his art. Sarath Pereira, who has exhibited in Sri Lanka, India and Bangladesh, Pakistan, gave an overview of all the artists who were participants of this Zoom Meet. He has also invited all to come to his studios in the future. Curator Akshat Sinha also proposed to have an art camp in his beautiful studio in collaboration with Sarath Pereira.
The convenor of Asthana Art Forum Bhupendra Kumar Asthana welcomed all the guest artists, art lovers at the beginning of the program and introduced the Asthana Art Forum and Artists. He spoke about the art talks to be held. And finally, the special guest of the program Anita Hada expressed her appreciation, praised Sarath Pereira’s art and said that art can bring peace to man.
In the end, Asthana said that hope that this Corona epidemic which is affecting the whole world will soon loosen its sharp grip. He thanked all the participants in the program and promised to meet another artist in the next issue of this initiative next Sunday.
