Artistic imprint of a creative hand

Lucknow: Any creative person is remembered in this world as long as his creativity, his thoughts along with his creations remain in this world, and the artist’s works remain for ever and the artist also lives in people’s memories for ever.

An ordinary person does all the work while living in this world, a creative person also does the same, but despite living like an ordinary person, his style of work is different and this difference makes him extraordinary from the ordinary. His life does not depend on how long he lived, what is important is how he lived. In his life journey, his style of work and that artist’s art journey are important.

Young photographer Jalaj Yadav was remembered in Lucknow  with some such memories. This program was done through online medium and telephonic medium through interaction with artists and artists from outside the state in a program organized by Asthana Art Forum, Saprem Sansthan and Roopkriti in Aliganj.

It may be noted that on 23 October 2020, young photographer Jalaj Yadav (8 February 1990-23 October 2020) son of Shri Ramesh Chandra Yadav died suddenly at the age of about 30 years. He was 30 years old and Jalaj was originally from Allahabad.

Remembering Jalaj, the painter, curator Bhupendra Asthana shared the memories of the last days with Jalaj, saying that Jalaj used to say that “I love to explore new dimensions in photography. My photography first started from the road where Subjects mix wide and open. I think photography for me is an extension of my self. Art is not what you see. I look at things up close and feel them and make it part of my photography I just want the viewer to feel what I feel in my photograph”.

Jalaj Yadav’s pictures, despite being ordinary, give a glimpse of a different perspective. Which forces the audience to think once again. The picture communicates to the audience. Jalaj’s elder brother painter Dheeraj Yadav while discussing Jalaj’s life said that Jalaj has done a lot of work on series like Durga, Building, Street, Still Life, Nature etc. While making the idol of Durga, he went to those places and did photography with his thoughts. Which offers amazing views.

Which have been selected in all the galleries and exhibitions today and are happening. Photographs were selected in the annual exhibition of 30th Ravi Jain Memorial Foundation and Rashtriya Lalit Kala Akademi New Delhi of Dhumimal Art Gallery, New Delhi, whose exhibition was also displayed. Portfolios on his photographs have also been published and preparations are on to make a coffee table book. Since Jalaj was a young artist, therefore, to encourage young, needy, financially struggling artists through motifs, art materials, financial support, etc., on the memorial day of Jalaj Yadav, many art activities have been organized continuously since 2020.

A special program “Kala Protsahan” was organized on the 32nd birthday of Jalaj in February 2022. Through this event, a young painter Ajay Yadav, who is suffering from blood cancer, was awarded two months Artist-in-Residency in recognition of his dedication towards his art. In this residency, Ajay was given a certificate, angavastra, 5000 ₹ and art materials.
