Lucknow: For Azamgarh lad, Bhupendra Kumar Asthana it’s a very proud moment as he has been honoured with the Lilavati Devi Shukla National Art and Science Award for his spellbinding artworks. Hailing from the Bindrabaazar district of Azamgarh he was appreciated for his work at the concluding day of the three-day painter camp organized under the joint aegis of State Lalit Kala Akademi (Cultural Department Uttar Pradesh) and Durga Kala Kendra Lucknow.
On this occasion, the chief guests at the inauguration and closing ceremony of the camp included Cabinet Minister Brajesh Pathak and Shiv Pratap Shukla (MP, Whip Rajya Sabha Member) along with Sita Ram Kashyap, President, State Lalit Kala Academy.and others.
Bhupendra was part of a long list of 24 artists who took part in the camp. Bhupendra Kumar Asthana created the artwork titled Paper using his unique style and his ideas on the environment captured the viewers mindspace. Bhupendra Asthana has been working as an independent painter, arts writer and art coordinator in the field past decade.
Many artists, including Uttar Pradesh senior artist Rajendra Prasad, Akhilesh Nigam, RS Shakya, Mohammad Shakeel, Rajiv Mishra, Umesh Saxena, Kumud Singh, Sarika Bala Mishra, Payal Tripathi, visited the arts exhibits.
