Lucknow: An awareness program was organized in the State Women’s Commission on the topic “Rights of abandoned women and information about various laws related to women”. The State Commission for Women was chaired by the Chairperson, Vimala Batham. The workshop was inaugurated by lighting the lamp by the Chairman of the Commission, Vimala Batham, Vice-Chairman Sushma Singh and Anju Choudhary.
In the awareness program, Bhagirath Verma Additional District and Sessions Judge / Officer on Special Duty, State Legal Services Authority, Lucknow presented information about various laws related to abandoned women and women, as well as Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act-2005, Dowry Prohibition Act-1961, Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses Act (POSCO) 2012, Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act 2013, Medical Termination of Pregnancy Act 1971, Pre-conception and Pre-natal Diagnostic Techniques Act 1994, Child Marriage Detail information was given regarding the Prohibition Act 2006, as well as it was informed by him that his office in all the districts of the state is operated in the name of District Legal Services Authority, where free legal aid is provided to women.
In the women’s public hearing to be organized by the Women’s Commission in the district, Bhagirath Verma was given detailed information regarding providing legal aid to the victim women through the schemes operated by the District Legal Services Authority. Various laws were discussed extensively by the officials.
In the second session of the program, U.P. State Women’s Commission a Monthly meeting of office bearers was organized. Various programs to be taken up by the Commission in the coming month were discussed in the meeting. The meeting was concluded by thanking the officials.
