Ayodhya Ram Mandir being constructed on lines of Konark Sun temple in Odisha

Ayodhya: The design of the under-construction sanctum sanctorum of the Ram temple in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh has been finalised. A team of experts has finalized the design of the sanctum sanctorum of the under-construction Ram temple in Ayodhya. Ram Mandir is likely to be opened for public by December 2023. Champat Rai, general secretary of the temple trust, said, “The sanctum sanctorum of the Ram temple is being designed in such a way that on every Ram Navami, the sun’s rays fall on Ram Lalla at noon.”

It is being told that the sanctum sanctorum of the Ram temple is being constructed like the Konark Sun Temple in Odisha. PM Modi suggested that according to experts headed by the Ram Mandir Construction Committee, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had suggested to the temple trust that the sanctum sanctorum of the Ram temple should be constructed on the lines of the Konark Sun Temple in Odisha, so that sunlight Fell directly on the deity.

The sanctum sanctorum of the Ram temple is part of the superstructure that is currently being built.

Champat Rai, general secretary of the temple trust, said, “This superstructure of the Ram temple is being constructed with sandstone carved from Rajasthan’s Bansi Paharpur district.” About 4.75 lakh cubic feet of Bansi Paharpur stones will be used for the superstructure of the temple, he said.

At present, about 50 per cent of the stones have been carved. Who all are included in the Ram Mandir panel? The Ram temple construction committee is headed by former bureaucrat Nripendra Mishra and has a team of experts including CBRI-Roorkee director Professor Pradeep Kumar and its former director Professor Gopal Krishnan, among others. Temple architect Ashish Sompura is also a part of the same team.
