Bhagat Singh Se dosti brings Lucknowites closer to the ideals of the revolutionary icon

Lucknow: A program ‘Bhagat Singh se Dosti’ commemorating the martyrdom of Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev, organised by IPTA (Indian People’s Theatre Association) and Dastak was held at Sheroes Cafe Gomtinagar.
Starting in a melodious note with revolutionary songs ( sarfaroshi ki tamanna, hum mehnatkash etc) by Mahinder Pal and Sandhya, the event was conducted by poet activist Deepak Kabir who spoke about the need to revisit the scientific and revolutionary ideals of Bhagat Singh to work towards a more egalitarian society . A call was made to invite membership of IPTA, to invigorate a cultural renaissance among civil society members through the Arts.
‘Inquilab’ a short film on the life of Bhagat Singh by Gauhar Raza was screened which was appreciated by the audience. The program ended with the lighting of candles by the people present there, at the same time coinciding with the hanging of the revolutionaries, with a solemn promise to keep alive the ideals of justice and equality.  Leaflets consisting of questions on Bhagat Singh in the form of a quiz was distributed for the people to taje home and ruminate over.
The august gathering comprised of well known personalities of Lucknow, like Prof Ramesh Dixit, senior politician Atul Anjan, senior journalist, Pradeep Kapoor, Shehzad Rizvi, Athar Hussain, Mohammad Rashid, Veena Rana, Girish Tewari, Tariq Khan, Sangita Jaiswal, Satya Singh etc, bonded over tea .
