Bright Science and Engineering Tech Researchers attract 2.1 crores grants for LU students

Lucknow: University of Lucknow got 2.1 crores grant from Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB), Ministry of Science & Technology, Government of India under the scheme State University Research Excellence (SURE) for innovative researches in the area of medicines, electronics, and other areas of societal benefits.

The newly joined faculty members in the different departments got seven projects worth 30 lacks each. The maximum number of projects (four) has been awarded in the Department of Chemistry, two of the projects in Zoology Department, and one in the Statistics. Dr. Neeraj Kumar Mishra will be working on Late-stage C–H functionalization of drug candidates that will help the medicinal chemists to bypass the long process syntheses of late-stage drug analogues. Dr. Sunil Kumar Rai has been funded for combination of drugs for cancer therapy. and Dr. Pratibha Bansal and Dr. Seema Mishra will be working on the manufacturing of highly efficient electrochemical energy storage devices. Dr. Ashutosh Ranjan and Dr. Aakansha Sharma in the Department of Zoology have been funded to work on the behaviours of migratory birds. Prof. Shashi Bhushan from Statistics Department will work on robust inferential procedures under ranked set sampling protocols.
Prof Alok Kunar Rai, Vice Chancellor and Prof Poonam Tandon, Dean Academic & Dean Student Welfare congratulated to all the awardees and said that new education policy (NEP) emphasizes research and innovation in the higher education, this funding will boost the research environment in the University and more opportunities of learning to the master and Ph.D. scholars.
