Cent percent work done by the Jal Shakti Ministry on ground water level woes

Lucknow: For the assessment of the continuously falling water level in the state and on the basis of it, classification of development blocks into safe category, overexploited category, critical category and semicritical category has been done on the basis of the guidelines set by the Government of India at an interval of every three years.

As per information provided by the Ground Water Department, in the financial year 2020-21, 826 development blocks of all 75 districts of the state and 10 cities of the state completed the work of assessment of ground water resources based on the data of March 31, 2020, through the Central Ground Water Board.

The Ministry of Jal Shakti is in close coordination with the Government of India. Under this scheme, cent percent work has been done in rural and urban areas against the set target of 3284 and 300 respectively.

In place of the defective piezometer, cent percent work was completed against the set target of 100 numbers for the installation of new piezometer.

For groundwater public awareness program in total 75 districts of the state, this year also Ground Water Week was organized from 16 to 22 July and the public was made aware about water conservation and water conservation.
