Lucknow: The Government of India has also sought opinion from the Government of Uttar Pradesh on the formation of National Pharmacy Commission. The government is preparing a report on the proposed National Pharmacy Commission Bill.
After the formation of the Commission, the Pharmacy Council will come to an end. A branch of the commission will also be formed in UP. The government has sought report from the Director General Medical and Health Services Uttar Pradesh and Registrar Uttar Pradesh Pharmacy Council on this bill proposed by the Government of India.
According to Ramesh Chandra Srivastava, OSD of Uttar Pradesh Pharmacy Council, with the formation of the commission, the development of pharmacy will be faster. Within one year of the formation of the Commission at the Centre, the state branch of the Commission will be formed on the lines of the Central Commission. Three boards and one advisory council will be formed. The state branches of the commission will get more power.
The formation of the commission will further raise the level of pharmacy education.
With the formation of the commission, the level of pharmacy education in the country will further improve. The task of making new policies for the development of pharmacy will become easier. It is noteworthy that the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India has issued a notification on November 10 seeking public opinion on the bill. If this bill is passed, the Pharmacy Council will end. National Pharmacy Commission will take its place.
People associated with pharmacy say that it is proposed to give more representation to higher pharmacy institutions in the commission. It would be better to give proper representation to Diploma Pharmacy, B-Pharma also.
