Sonebhadra: Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Chairman Dr. Ashish Kumar Goyal visited Obra Thermal Project on Wednesday. On the first arrival of Chairman Goyal in Obra, a guard of honor was given by the Central Industrial Security Force along with a grand welcome given by the officials at the project guest house by giving a flower bunch.

This visit is being considered very important in view of the possible inauguration by the Chief Minister after the light up of the first unit of the 1320 MW capacity Obra “C” project being built in Obra. Currently, efforts are being made to start production from the first 660 MW unit of the “C” project.

The first unit has shut down twice in the last fortnight before it was fully operational. Due to repeated closure of the unit, there is a situation of confusion regarding its inauguration. Regarding this, the Chairman, after inspecting the “C” project, held a meeting with the officials of the thermal project and the officials of the executing company “Dusan” and discussed the problems being faced in running the project smoothly as well as in the construction of the coal handling plant.

Reviewed the issues arising and issues like ash disposal etc. It is known that in the month of June also, the then Chairman M Devraj had inspected the Obra C project and given strict instructions to the officials and said that the unit should be started soon. Due to the coal handling plant being incomplete at that time, an agreement was made with a transport company to source coal by road. At present, more than Rs 12 crore is being spent every month on importing coal by road.

Director Project Engineer Sanjay Kumar Dutta, Chief General Manager Engineer Radhey Mohan, General Manager C Engineer PC Aggarwal, General Manager District Engineer Jabar Singh, General Manager Engineer Yogesh Gupta etc. were present in the meeting.
