Lucknow: On the birth anniversary of former MP, Lalji Tandon, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath inaugurated the ‘Lalji Tandon Multipurpose Hall’ with the pressing of buttom at the Chowk Stadium in the state capital. Tandon apart from being a true son of the soil was former Governor of Bihar and Madhya Pradesh.
Apart from the inauguration a road connecting Dubagga to Chowk and the Chowk intersection have been named after him. The Chowk Square will be known as ‘Lalji Tandon Square’.
CM Yogi speaking at his government residence in Kalidas Marg said that this is the first time that he is not present on his birthday. He said he had a deep sense of gratitude for people like Tandon. He further added that Lucknow and Tandon were synonymous with each other.
He fondly recalled that when he was the Governor of Bihar, Ram Janaki had to go to Janakpur on the occasion of marriage. On that occasion, he went to Patna. At night, he stayed in Raj Bhavan itself. When he started talking to him in Patna, Tandanji said that I do not like staying outside Lucknow. My soul resides in Lucknow itself.
Yogi said that all that Tandon believed in was values and principles. Things he has chronicled in the book ‘Ankaha’ Lucknow. He referred to the person as ‘Chalta Firuta Lucknow’.
Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya said that Lalji Tandon and himself would often discuss the Ram temple. On this occasion, Deputy Chief Minister Dr. Dinesh Sharma said that Lucknow lived in his heart.
Mayor Sanyukta Bhatia said Tandon had a great personality. Got to learn a lot from him, she said. BJP state president Swatantradev Singh said that Babuji had a good hold in other governments as well. All of them accept them in the society.
On this occasion, his son and state cabinet minister Ashutosh Tandon Gopal, while conducting, highlighted his personality. Many ministers, BJP officials and senior officials were present during this period.
