City’s First Test Tube Baby now a Mother

Lucknow: In what is good news,  Lucknow’s first test tube baby, Prarthana who is 23-year-old  has given birth to a daughter and become a mother herself. As per reports Prarthana gave birth to a baby girl and was elated to be attending an event organised around IVF by Ajanta Hospital. Born in the same hospital in 1998, Prarthana said, “Every time I am called to a programme by the hospital, it’s an elated feeling. It feels like I’m home again.”

Sharing her mind she said she learnt she was an IVF baby when her parents told her in school.   “They brought me to Dr Geeta Khanna because of whom I’m here. I grew up like any other normal child. It was never different for me,” she said.

The 23-year-old’s mother Malti was in her 40s when Prarthana was conceived through IVF. There was no problem in conceiving or delivering her baby.

Dr Khanna said, “There are a lot of myths around IVF. Many people think that those born through IVF cannot conceive naturally. But they are wrong.

“I was the one who christened Prarthana because she became the city’s first test tube baby. She was a success and very lucky for me,” she added.
