CM Yogi Adityanath taking care noone goes to bed hungry by distributing free ration

Lucknow: To provide relief to the poor and needy due to the circumstances arising out of Covid-19 by the State Government, free ration is being distributed to all ration card holders for a period of 03 months (June, July and August).

Under this scheme, food grains will be distributed free of cost till August 31, 2021 in the distribution of second cycle to Antyodaya and eligible household beneficiaries covered under the National Food Security Act. 35 kg food grains (20 kg wheat and 15 kg rice) to Antyodaya card holders and 05 kg foodgrains per unit (03 kg wheat and 02 kg rice) are being distributed to eligible household ration cards.

Giving this information, Additional Food Commissioner, Anil Kumar Dubey said that in this month’s distribution, so far 119756.611 metric tonnes of food grains have been distributed to Antyodaya card holders and 553811.813 metric tonnes to eligible household card holders. Due to this scheme, the expenditure burden of about Rs 188 crore is falling on the state government every month.

Dubey informed that the last date for distribution has been fixed as August 31, 2021. On the day when mobile OTP for consumers who could not get food grains through Aadhaar authentication. Delivery can be done through verification. He said that in view of the circumstances arising out of Covid-19, the work of distribution of food grains is being done from 6:00 am to 09:00 pm even during the second cycle of distribution by fair rate shopkeepers to ensure uninterrupted distribution of essential commodities.
