CM Yogi calls for pothole free Diwali
Lucknow: Now you will get guarantee of the quality of every road in Uttar Pradesh. If a substandard road is constructed, the public will be able to encash this guarantee warranty and the road construction agency or contractor will have to get it repaired or rebuilt. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath gave this instruction in the review meeting regarding road improvements.
The Chief Minister of UP has also asked to run a special campaign to make the roads of the state pothole free before Diwali in November. The Chief Minister said that the monsoon situation this year is unusual.
There is a possibility of continuous rain in many districts, hence before Diwali in November, a campaign to make roads pothole free should be conducted in the entire state.
Where there is rain, people’s problems should be solved by placing boulders and running rollers. If we include departments like Public Works Department (PWD), NHAI, Mandi Parishad, Irrigation, Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Sugar Industry and Sugarcane Development, then there are about four lakh kilometers of roads in the state.
CM Yogi said, if roads get damaged due to a big project like Metro Expressway, the concerned department will be made responsible. There is no shortage of budget for roads in the pothole free campaign. All departments should ensure that the road construction agency/contractor also takes the responsibility of its maintenance for the next five years of road construction. Its terms and conditions should also be decided.
Backbone of engineering construction work
CM said that engineers are the backbone of construction work. There should be no shortage of engineers anywhere and if necessary, outsourcing should be done. Ministers and officials review road projects. Engineers should be deployed only on the basis of merit. Decide that people with mafia or criminal image should not get contracts in any public project.
Close relatives of such criminals and gang operatives should also be kept away from getting contracts or leases. Geo-tagging of pothole-free and new road construction should be done, so that there is no scope for scams. It should be linked to PM Gatishakti portal.
