CM also appreciated the works of Transport Corporation during Kumbh and Corona adding that this is the first year of Amrit Mahotsav of independence. The country is going to grow due to the yatras of the next 25 years.
In this first year, UP Transport Corporation is working for a new glorious journey while cherishing its golden journey. The journey which was started for 50 years for smooth and easy travel of 25 crore people, is going to add some new achievements before Holi.
Transport Corporation employees did commendable work in Kumbh and Corona
The CM said that he used to get an opportunity to see and know the works of the Transport Corporation since childhood. The role of the Transport Corporation during the biggest cultural events Prayagraj Kumbh and Corona was commendable. 24 crore devotees participated in the 45-day event of Kumbh. For this, the state government had provided 5 thousand new buses in the fleet of the Transport Corporation. The Transport Corporation had played a good role in providing smooth travel to the devotees.
On the other hand, when the lockdown was implemented on 25 March 2020 during the biggest epidemic of the century, Corona, thousands of laborers and workers from different states of the country including Delhi, Punjab, Maharashtra went towards their villages. Thousands gathered in Delhi and other border areas. When this scene started appearing on 27-28, we called an emergency meeting of the Transport Corporation. It was told that we have a fleet of 12 to 14 thousand buses. We said don’t delay. Workers and migrant workers were coming from many areas including Ghaziabad, Agra, Jhansi, Saharanpur, and within 12 hours, the drivers and operators of the Transport Corporation gathered there and started taking everyone to their destination.
Transport Corporation employees were matching step by step with the administration regardless of their lives in Corona
The CM said that when people were saving lives, the employees of the Transport Corporation, without caring for their lives, worked step by step with the administration. A total of one crore citizens going to places like Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand etc. were engaged in taking them to their destination. These employees worked with police, home guards and administrative officials. The world appreciated it. The UP government did a wonderful job during the crisis. Meanwhile, 500 buses were sent to Kota and the stranded children were brought safely. The drivers and conductors took 15 thousand children home. Of these, 4.5 thousand children were also from Uttarakhand. The Transport Corporation conveyed the message that we are with the citizens in times of crisis.
We gave 400 crores for 1000 new buses
CM said that 150 new buses have arrived on Holi. The good thing is that these buses are being made in the workshop of the Transport Corporation. We gave Rs 400 crore to buy 1000 new buses. Rs 100 crore was also given to develop bus stands on the lines of airports. You stood with the people of UP and the country in times of crisis. CM said that disaster does not come by telling. You also have the capability, scale and skill. One should be made to realize the potential for public welfare and development. Your strength, anarchy and strike, should not be seen to disturb the citizens, but to give relief to them. CM said that on Holi there is crowd at bus station, railway station, airport. If good bus service is provided then the common man will get benefit. People go home to celebrate festivals. Contribution should be made to make the journey smooth on festivals. On Rakshabandhan, the Transport Corporation gives free travel to women. Good service should be increased continuously.
Can connect millions of youth with employment and self-reliance
The CM said that there are one lakh revenue villages in UP. In all those villages, the Transport Corporation can provide better service than the railway and airport. No passenger should be cheated. The journey of common man should be safe and easy, people can go from village to city and from city to village. May your service always be ready for them. Through this, talk to Transport Corporation Tourism, Revenue Department. Somewhere a good dhaba-hotel should be built, people should use it. By making this facility available at one lakh places, you can connect lakhs of youth with employment and self-reliance. CM said that you have a lot of opportunity. Connect every district, more than 350 tehsils, 825 development blocks, 762 municipal bodies with bus service. You will get only benefits, but you will have to take decisions and work in a timely manner. The CM hoped that the service started today would benefit the public on Holi.
CM gave a lesson, buses should be sacred like a shrine for personnel
The CM said that for the movement of a person, the first concern is with the bus stand, so the bus is good.
Be nice and clean. For the workers, the bus should be as sacred as the shrine, because it is the basis of our livelihood. Clean it, come an hour earlier and do regular fitness checks. Also take care of the safety of the citizens. There should be regular medical checkup of the driver-operator. For this, the Transport Corporation should sign an MoU with the Health Department.
Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak, Transport Minister Dayashankar Singh, Chief Secretary Durga Shankar Mishra etc were present on the occasion.
