Gorakhpur: On the auspicious occasion of Makar Sankranti the Mahant of the Gorakhnath temple and UP CM, Yogi Adityanath not only offered his prayers to Lord Gorakhnath but also wished the public at large a Happy Makar Sankranti.
He has also greeted the devotees on the auspicious event after ‘Khichdi’ was offered at the at temple during the ‘Brahm Muhurat’.
Yogi speaking to mediapersons said that the festival is dedicated to the Sun god and I wish everyone on this auspicious occasion. He said the festival is celebrated in different parts of India differently. He said in north India, it is called ‘Sankranti’, it is celebrated in the name of Pongal in the South, Lohri in Punjab and Bihu in Assam.
The Gorakhnath Mandir has been seeing a steady stream of devotees thronging the Gorakhnath Mandir. The temple and district administration made arrangements ensuring devotees face no difficulties.
Yogi has also called for following of all COVID-19 norms terming the vaccine roll-out the final blow.
At a time when farmers have been fighting hard to get back their due as land tillers, he said, “This festival represents the spirits and zeal of our farmers.”
