CME ON ENVIRONMENTAL CHALLENGES OF COMBAT MEDICAL SUPPORT HELD AT OTC, AMC CENTRE AND COLLEGE
LUCKNOW: A CME on “Environmental Challenges of Combat Medical Support” held at Major Laishram Jyotin Singh Ashok Chakra Auditorium, Army Medical Corps Centre and College in Lucknow on 09 & 10 November 2022 conducted by Officers Training College. OTC is a unique category A institution of the Armed Forces imparting training to medical officers, dental officers, Non-Technical officers and Nursing officers of the Armed Forces Medical Services.
The CME was inaugurated on 09 November 2022 with Lamp Lighting & Sarasvati Vandana. Chief of Staff, HQ Central Command, along with Officiating Commandant, Army Medical Corps Centre and College and Officers In Charge Army Medical Corps Records, graced the inaugural ceremony which was attended by Senior officers of the station along with more than two hundred delegates and officers comprising doctors, nurses and non-technical officers from Army, Navy and Air Force from all over India. A Souvenir to mark the occasion was also released as compilation of all the deliberations of this CME.
The welcome address was delivered by Major General JP Prasad, Commandant and Chief Instructor, Officers Training College, Army Medical Corps Centre and College who traced the evolution of Environmental Challenges of Combat Medical Support and its implications for the Armed Forces Medical Services in his lucid talk. He spoke on challenges of Combat Medical Care dynamics with ever evolving Environmental Challenges and the need to deliberate on the way ahead for the Armed Forces Medical Services.
The inaugural address was delivered by Lieutenant General Vivek Kashyap, Ati Vishisht Seva Medal, Vishisht Seva Medal, Chief of Staff, HQ Central Command who stressed on the importance of keeping abreast with the dynamics of Environmental Challenges of Combat Medical Support and moving ahead with the advancements in the field of Combat Medical Support for saving lives of troops keeping in sync with the role of medical professionals in combat zone which makes Armed Forces Medical Services unique.
The keynote address was delivered by Major General Ashwin Galagali, Deputy Commandant & Chief Instructor, Army Medical Corps Centre & College who traced the evolution of Combat Medical Care amidst the diverse environmental challenges and its implications for the Armed Forces Medical Services in his lucid talk. He emphasised upon the occupational imperatives of the Armed Forces Medical Services particularly in the arena of combat medical support in the panoramic spectrum of operational scenarios across varied theatres, terrain and climatic conditions.
The CME on 09 November 2022 comprised of two stimulating scientific sessions chaired by senior and experienced doctors of the Armed Forces Medical Services with discussions on diverse topics of current and future importance. The sessions covered experiences of Combat Medical Support Challenges: High Altitude Area and Counter Insurgency Operations, Integration and Jointmanship implications for Combat Medical Support and was followed by demonstrations on training for Combat Medical Support at Officers Training College, Army Medical Corps Centre and College. The CME also witnessed a very well subscribed Scientific Poster Presentation in which entries from various parts of the country on various aspects of Combat Medical Support was received.
