Lucknow: After much brouhaha over the misconduct of SSP, CO Sadar Manish Sonkar has withdrawn his resignation. The decision comes after talks with DIG Joginder Kumar. He had resigned after being angered by SSP’s misconduct, SSP Jhansi was accused of inhumanity.
Sonkar was posted as CO Sadar in the district. The CO’s wife, is Corona positive, so she sought a 6-day holiday to care for her 4-year-old girl. But SSP Rohan P Kanay refused to give leave, after which CO Manish Chandra Sonkar resigned from his post.
After resigning, the SSP not just issued the CO a holiday, they also recommended the resignation and sent it to the Governor. Now the PPS Association of UP has demanded action from DGP Hitesh Chandra Awasthi and Additional Chief Secretary Home Avnish Awasthi taking cognizance of the matter.
The PPS Association tweeted that along with DSP Manish Sonkar, the Jhansi SSP was mentally tortured when he sought leave to look after his COVID-afflicted wife and daughter. They said DGP and Avneesh Awasthi are requested to take appropriate action.
Significantly, after this incident, the CO’s letter is going viral on social media. In which he has written that not giving leave even during such time means that such IPS considers us inferior humans.
According to the information, CO Manish Chandra Sonkar has done many big operations against terrorists while staying in UP ATS. He has carried out several operations against the Khorasan module of ISIS and the Naxalites.
The SSP says that Manish Chandra was angered by the removal of certain staff. Negligence was also being done in duty. When summoned, he sent his resignation in writing. His resignation has been sent to the police headquarters.
