Congress brands GIS 2023 as a mere Global Event Summit

Lucknow: Congress spokesperson Akhilesh Pratap Singh attacked the Yogi government in a press conference at the state Congress headquarters regarding the three-day Global Investor Summit  in the state capital Lucknow, saying that it will be held on February 10, 11, 12 in Lucknow. The ‘Global Investors Summit’ is actually the ‘Global Event Summit’.

He said that it is to mislead the public with public money. The government claims that an investment of Rs 21 lakh crore will come from this summit. The UP Industries Department alone has released about Rs 320 crore for this summit. The country’s investment management agencies have been hired for this summit. Government should tell which are those event agencies? Where is she from? How much is he to be paid? By what process are you hired?

The Congress spokesperson further said that a similar summit was organized in Lucknow in 2018 as well, in which MoUs were signed with 1045 companies for investment worth about Rs 4 lakh 28 thousand crore. In two ground breaking ceremonies, only 371 MOU companies came for Bhoomi Pujan, out of which only 106 companies have been commercially operated. Which is about 9 percent of the total announced investment.

In the summit held in 2018, 9196 people were invited, out of which 6506 people registered themselves, 153 foreign industrial houses also registered themselves. Akhilesh Pratap Singh said that for the Global Summit in February 2023, the entire UP government has been touring the country and the world for 10 months. Ministers/officials toured/road-showed 17 countries.
