CONGRESS DOWN TO ZERO IN LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL

Lucknow: This will be the last session of the lone Congress member Deepak Singh in the Legislative Council. The journey of representation of Congress which started with Motilal Nehru in the year 1909 will reach zero in 2022 with the completion of Deepak Singh’s term on 6th July.

This session is also special in the sense that three days after the commencement of the session, the term of three members of the SP is ending. This will be the first time in the 113-year history of the Legislative Council that there will be no one to represent the Congress in the House. In the year 1909, senior Congress leader Motilal Nehru became a member of this house.

The tenure of SP’s Leader of Opposition Sanjay Lather, Rajpal Kashyap and Arvind Kumar ended on 26 May. There tenure will be completed by registering presence in the house for three days. All of them are nominated members.

Apart from these, there will be 11 more such members whose term will end before the next session. Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya, BJP’s Bhupendra Singh, SP’s Jagjivan Prasad, Dr. Kamlesh Kumar Pathak, Ranvijay Singh, Shatrudra Prakash, Balram Yadav, Ramsunder Das Nishad, BSP’s Atar Singh, Suresh Kumar Kashyap and Dinesh Chandra’s tenure will end.
