Consensus grows on the brilliance of Yashasvi Jaiswal, stalwarts see him hitting big times soon

New Delhi: Yashasvi Jaiswal is a quick learner and has the potential to shine not only for his Indian Premier League franchise but also for India in international cricket, feels Rajasthan Royals head coach Kumar Sangakkara. The 21-year-old Jaiswal has been in fine form in the current IPL season. He has so far scored 428 runs at an average of 47.5 including one century and three half-centuries.

Sangakkara said at the press conference after Rajasthan Royals’ six-wicket defeat at the hands of Mumbai Indians, “There is a player who is not only very talented but also very hard working.” He spends a lot of time in preparations and spends a lot of time at the nets.

“He has spent three to four years with us and it shows that he is very focused towards his work and his performances Jaiswal scored 124 off 62 balls in the match against Mumbai which included 16 fours and eight sixes.

Sangakkara said, “He batted brilliantly. He kept batting for almost the entire innings. He has a long way to go not only with us but also at the international level. Jaiswal’s brilliant innings helped Rajasthan Royals post 212 for seven but Mumbai won with Tim David’s 14-ball 45 not out. This Australian all-rounder gave victory to his team by hitting three consecutive sixes on Jason Holder. He said that he was eager to lead the team to victory like this.

David said, “I was eager to get the team a win like this, so I am feeling very good. The team is very excited and well done by all the players. I was waiting for my opportunity and I am really happy that I took full advantage of it. “He said,” Last year was my first experience in IPL and I am looking to make a name for myself and cement my place in the team. Was eager But now whenever I wear the Mumbai Indians shirt, I try to make them win.”

Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma heaped praise on Yashasvi Jaiswal, saying that he was in awe of the power of the young batsman’s strokes. The 21-year-old, who plays for Rajasthan Royals, scored 124 off 62 balls against Mumbai on Sunday which included 16 fours and eight sixes.

Rohit said after the match, “I saw him play last year and this year he has taken his game to the next level. I asked him from where he gets such strength. He said that he goes to the gym. This performance of his is good for him, for Indian cricket and for Rajasthan Royals.

Jaiswal was adjudged the player of the match for his brilliant innings. He said he wanted to keep working hard and keep his focus on the process. Jaiswal said, “I want to stay focused on the process and work hard. I want to keep believing in myself. I keep positive thinking and live a good and ideal lifestyle which gives me benefits. I enjoy playing straight drives and cover drives. It boosts my confidence.”
