Bareilly: As India celebrated Holi, Bareilly people paid an ode to the supreme Lord Rama by taking out a Ram Baraat on a bullock cart. During Holi, Bareilly organizes a Ramlila unlike any other part of the country.
Bareilly witnessed the 161th Rama procession as part of a tradition that had been going on for years. Thousands of people joined the procession raising slogans.
The air was filled with chants of Jai Shri Ram and Har Har Mahadev andcolours were showered on those taking part in the procession. In fine show of the Ganga-Jamuni Tehzeeb reminiscent of the region, Muslims showered flowers on the Ram baraat. Bareilly is the only city where Rama procession takes place on Holi.
It is the only city where Ramlila is organized on the occasion of Holi. The administration had made special arrangements for the Ram baraat.
Starting at Malukpur intersection and passing through important intersections of the city it ended at the Narasimha Temple at Bamanpuri. Welcomed at various sections it was welcomed with fierce exchange of colours. As Holi revellers enjoyed with gay abandon police deployment was high. Ending Holi celebrations on a high, all wanted better times with Corona a thing of the past.
