Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya pins high hopes on sporting talent from rural hinterland
Basti: Deputy Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Keshav Prasad Maurya awarded the winners of the Sansad Khel Mahakumbh at Basti. In his address, thanking Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he said that he is the first Prime Minister to start the Sansad Khel Mahakumbh.
He said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, sports and players are being taken forward by providing modern facilities. He expressed confidence that the players showing their talent and strength would win medals at the state and national level as well as at the international level.
He said that a sports event like Basti has not been organized anywhere in the country. Such events provide an opportunity to the participants to move forward. Prime Minister motivates not only sports but also the board examinees, so that they can perform better in the examinations by being stress-free. He introduced people to other outstanding talents of the country through Mann Ki Baat every month.
He said that with the inspiration of the Prime Minister, the Tricolor flag was hoisted at every house on August 15. It is the effect of India’s growing influence globally that we have got the opportunity to chair the G-20.
He said that the widening of Ring Road, Chaurasi Kosi Parikrama Marg, Ramjanki Marg in Basti district has been approved by the State Transport Ministry of Government of India. He wished all the players good luck and wished them a bright future. On this occasion, he gave away shields and cash prizes to the winning teams of sports like basketball, volleyball, football, cricket, kho-kho, kabaddi, wrestling, running, badminton etc.
Member of Parliament Harish Dwivedi said in his address that a total of 112 sports competitions were organized this year. Block level games were organized in the month of December, in which about 03 lakh players participated. He said that a total of 4230 participants of various competitions were awarded in the Sansad Khel Mahakumbh, in which 212-212 were given first and second prize and 186 third prize. 616 consolation prizes were given.
He told that in this sequence 800 people were awarded in essay and painting. 200 people who gave good suggestions were honored. Addressing the ceremony, MLA Ajay Singh said that in the coming days innumerable sporting talents of Basti district will perform at the national level. The program was conducted by Vivekananda Mishra. On this occasion MLA Shalbhamani Tripathi, Mahesh Shukla, Ashok Singh, Jagdish Shukla, K.D. Chowdhary, Anoop Khare, Pramod Pandey, block heads, Rakesh Srivastava, Anil Dubey and other public representatives were present.
