Lucknow: The Deputy Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Keshav Prasad Maurya informed that self-help groups formed under the Uttar Pradesh State Rural Livelihood Mission are paving the way for their self-reliance by participating in various activities across the state. Public welfare, village oriented and development oriented schemes and programs are also being implemented. In this episode, very commendable, remarkable and excellent work is being done in Bundelkhand by women self-help groups in the direction of women empowerment by collecting milk. In Bundelkhand, 1.22 lakh liters of milk is being collected every day by Self Help Groups, which is an example in itself. Milk collection has become a better source of income for women in Bundelkhand and women’s hard work is paying off.
According to the information received from Rural Development Department, Dairy Value Chain (Milk Value Chain) in Bundelkhand region: Producer company of women has been formed to sell milk in Bundelkhand region. This scheme is being implemented in five districts of Bundelkhand (Chitrakoot, Jhansi, Banda, Hamirpur and Jalaun) in collaboration with NDDB Dairy Services. The headquarter of this project is district Jhansi and under the dairy project in 651 villages of intensive districts of Bundelkhand, 48000 women of 3600 self-help groups are to be organized in different phases as ‘Balinese Milk Producer Company’ value chain. In view of its success, Kashi Milk Producer Company has been formed on similar lines in 5 districts of Purvanchal region namely Ghazipur, Sonbhadra, Ballia, Mirzapur and Chandauli.
