District Magistrate calls for proper arrangements in view of Chhath Puja

Lucknow: Under the chairmanship of District Magistrate Surya Pal Gangwar, an important meeting regarding the arrangements on the occasion of Chhath Puja festival on 19 and 20 November 2023 was convened in Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Auditorium.

In the meeting, Prabhunath Roy told that like previous years, this year also on 19th and 20th November 2023, 15 main places of Lucknow district, Laxman Mela Ground, Jhulelal Park, Khatu Shyam Temple, Hanuman Setu, Kudiaghat, Picnic Spot (Kukrail near Irrigation Bandha) ) Shaheed Path Ghat (near Stadium) Paved Bridge Mound Mosque, Rastoghighat (Chowk), Sainik Society Ground (Sarojini Nagar), Shiv Mandir Garbage Mosque near Rajaji Puram, C-Block near Meena Bakery near Deendayad’s tank, Bholakheda Police Chhath Puja programs are organized at places like Chowki Alambagh, Mawaiya near railway crossing, BBD College near Chinhat and Bholakheda Khargapur etc.

The District Magistrate told in the meeting that on the day of Chhath Puja, a large number of people gather in the ghats, in which children also participate. In such a situation, there is a fear of children getting lost, for which, like last year, the District Magistrate has given instructions this year too that it is necessary for all the children who have come to the place of worship to keep an ID around their neck/pocket.

In which his name, father’s name, mobile number and address should be mentioned. Such ID cards should be made and kept at the ghats so that the people coming can automatically fill the information mentioned in the card and put the ID cards around the neck of the children so that the lost children can be reunited with their families safely. Along with the above, women should also ensure to keep a slip/card with their name and mobile number in their bag/other luggage/bag etc. so that if the said item is lost, it can be easily returned to them.

In the meeting, the District Magistrate instructed the Municipal Corporation to make arrangements for cleanliness, fogging, CCTV cameras, mobile toilets, public address system, lighting, tankers for pure drinking water, water hyacinth of the river, barricading at the places of worship. He gave instructions to put up displays on the banks of the river regarding information about the depth of the river.

He directed the Lucknow Development Authority to clean the places of worship/ghats along the Gomti River Front, repair the lighting of the ghats and repair the railings wherever they were broken. It was also instructed that when women would be present at the ghats to watch the setting sun, the Municipal Corporation should sprinkle water to prevent dust from rising at that time. The District Magistrate directed that adequate number of boats and divers should be arranged at the ghats so that any emergency situation can be dealt with. Besides, instructions were given by the District Magistrate that separate meeting of divers and professional training with water police should also be ensured.

The District Magistrate directed the Chief Medical Officer to arrange for one ambulance each with a team of doctors and medicines at the places of worship, which should remain operational continuously. In view of communicable diseases like dengue, malaria etc., the District Magistrate instructed that arrangements for cleaning of nearby bushes, cutting of grass, cleanliness, lime spraying and fogging etc. should be ensured.

He said that the condition of all transformers and loads should be assessed in advance, and a list of open and damaged wires should be made and all concerned departments should ensure that no accidents occur. He said that the Electrical Safety Department should conduct mandatory inspection. Their work will not end with just the NOC, rather regular checks should be done. If any laxity is found, it will be the responsibility of the concerned officers. Instructions were given to give NOC to the Electrical Safety Department/Public Works Department to check the arrangement of lighting and wiring at the places of worship and the stage/pandal made at the program level.

On this occasion, Chief Development Officer  Ajay Jain, Additional District Magistrate Finance and Revenue along with all the Deputy District Magistrates, all Additional Municipal Magistrates, Additional Municipal Commissioners, Municipal Corporation, Electricity, Police, Health, National President of Bhojpuri Samaj  Prabhunath Roy and related departments were present. officers were present
