Divisional Commissioner Dr. Roshan Jacob to lead Alaya Apartment fiasco probe
Lucknow: A high-level inquiry into the Alaya apartment accident has begun. The committee headed by the commissioner has summoned the files from 2009 onwards. On Saturday, there were piles of files in the officers’ rooms in the LDA. The handiwork of the builder is being searched in the pile of hundreds of files. Not only Alaya Apartment, the files of all the buildings whose plans were rejected that year are not being found.
The commissioner has asked for the files from the year 2009 onwards from the LDA. According to the letter written to the LDA, instructions have been given to present these files before the investigation team. Information like when the map was rejected, compounding was rejected and when demolition orders were passed etc. will be handed over to the investigation team.
Secretary Pawan Kumar Gangwar took the commissioner’s order seriously and started investigation by getting the files related to that year. Additional Secretary Gyanendra Verma is also looking for documents related to Alaya Apartment. Till late evening, many files around that time have been received. According to LDA officials, all such files in the cases in which the maps were approved are kept on the basis of order in the records.
Those whose maps have been rejected may be kept in the office of the concerned prescribed authorities. It is expected that both the files related to Alaya apartment will also be found soon.
Commissioner Dr. Roshan Jacob has written a letter to the Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) to ensure that such incidents do not happen in future. It has been instructed in this letter that a committee of experts should be formed and a proposal should be presented in the board meeting of LDA to prevent such incidents in future. Commissioner Dr. Jacob told that the team of experts will give recommendations for structural audit buildings.
Allottees’ statements will be on Tuesday
The statements related to the Alaya Apartment incident at Hazratganj Wazir Hasan Road will be recorded on Tuesday. The commissioner has called the affected families and allottees to the commissioner’s office at 1030 hours to know their side. Commissioner Dr. Roshan Jacob, Joint Commissioner of Police Piyush Mordia, PWD Chief Engineer have been kept in the committee. Those living around the building may be questioned on Tuesday. When the excavation of the basement of the apartment was going on, some people in the vicinity had lodged an objection. Their complaint was that the buildings were also shaking due to the use of heavy vibrator drillers during the basement excavation. In such a situation, their side will also be recorded as evidence.
