Dribble fest unfolds in city as U – 14 sub junior hockey tournament gets underway

Lucknow. Selected 16 teams of budding hockey players, including previous winners Flicker Brothers Haryana and runners-up UP Grace, will compete in the 33rd All India KD Singh Babu Sub-Junior Boys (U-14) Prize Money Hockey Tournament.

Under the aegis of KD Singh Babu Smarak Society, the Rs 11 lakh prize money tournament started today February 27 while the title match of the tournament will be played on March 5. The matches of the tournament will be played at the Padma Shri Mohammad Shahid Synthetic Turf Hockey Stadium.

The tournament was inaugurated by the chief guest RS Rawat (Olympian, Seoul Asian Games-1986 bronze medalist).

In the tournament, league matches  started from 27 February to 2 March. Additional Chief Secretary (Sports) Dr. Navneet Sehgal addressed the press conference held . He said in his address that the state government will encourage this unique tournament of its kind. We will encourage organizations like KD Singh Babu Memorial Society to further promote sports.

Society’s General Secretary Sujit Kumar informed that this time also two teams from UP will participate in this tournament. According to Organizing Secretary Imranul Haque, the winning team will get Rs 5 lakh and the runner-up will get Rs 3 lakh prize money in the tournament. On the other hand, the third place team will get two lakh rupees and the fourth place team will get prize money of one lakh rupees.

General Secretary of the Organizing Committee Sujit Kumar, Organizing Secretary Imranul Haque, Treasurer Mukul Lal Shah along with Khurshid Ahmed and Gurutosh Pandey were present.
