Eminent respiratory medicine specialist, Dr. Surya Kant honored by Vallabhbhai Patel Chest Institute, New Delhi.

Lucknow: Dr. Surya Kant, Head of the Department of Respiratory Medicine, King George’s Medical University (KGMU), Lucknow has been honored at the country’s prestigious the Vallabhbhai Patel Chest Institute (VPCI), New Delhi. VPCI is the country’s reputed Allergy and Chest Disease Institute. This premier institution honored Dr. Surya Kant with the ‘Foundation Lecture Award’ of the Indian College of Allergy, Asthma and Applied Immunology. It should be noted that Dr. Surya Kant was given this honor for his remarkable work in the field of allergy, asthma and immunology.Dr. Surya Kant received this honor from the National President of Indian College of Allergy, Asthma and Applied Immunology, Dr. S. N. Gaur, Secretary Dr. A.B. Singh and the Chairman of the Governing Body of VPCI, Dr. V. S. Chauhan and Director of VPCI, Dr. Raj Kumar.It may be noted that this prestigious lecture was delivered by Dr. Surya Kant at the National Conference of Indian College of Allergy, Asthma and Applied Immunology (virtual) at VPCI, New Delhi.

So far, Dr. Surya Kant has been honored with more than 155 awards for his medical, educational, research, Hindi language and social service works. Dr. Surya Kant has already been honored with 19 fellowships bydifferent national and international institutions like American College of Chest Physicians, Tuberculosis Association of India, Indian Medical Association, Indian Chest Society, National College of Chest Physicians etc. He has also been honored with Vigyan Gaurav Award (U.P.’s highest award in the field of science) by the Government of Uttar Pradesh and University-level Hindi Samman by the State Hindi Sansthan.

Apart from this, Dr. Surya Kant has also written 18 books on topics related to medical science, allergy, asthma, and tuberculosis. And in the field of cancer, so far about 710 research papers have been published in national and international journals. For more than two decades, he is spreading awareness about prevention and treatment of diseases like allergy, asthma, TB, cancer among people through electronic and print media. Moreover, in COVID-19 pandemic, by making people aware of deadly corona virus through news channels, YouTube, radio and newspapers, he is saving, as well as giving life to the COVID-19 patients. Pandit Rajan Mishra COVID-19 Hospital,Varanasi was founded byDRDO: Dr. Surya Kant was selected by forming a one-member team to assess the available resources/medical facilities for providing better medical facilities to the patients in the hospital and also for his recommendation for improvement in it. Even before this, he was sent by the Uttar Pradesh government to the districts like Agra, Kanpur, Meerut affected byCOVID-19 for review and betterment of patients.
