Next time you buy a plot and leave it to get littered without occupation, the municipality may not be too kind to you. The Lucknow Municipal Corporation has now taken a very firm decision that it will auction a plot in the event of a defaulter not depositing fine amount and continuing to litter the place with garbage.
In strict instructions for action, the Municipal commissioner has given time to zonal officials to determine all empty plots in 15 days, the information of the name, address and mobile number of the plot owners will be collected. These plots are allegedly coming in the way of the Swachh Bharat Mission of the government.
Most of these plots are those where garbage is being thrown mostly in colonies and mohallas. This causes a pile of filth everywhere. The Municipal Corporation will impose a fine of Rs 50,000 on such plot owners. The plot will be auctioned for non-deposit of fines and non-closure of garbage and debris spilling in the plot. The order has been issued by Municipal Commissioner Ajay Kumar Dwivedi.
The idea behind the crackdown is that there is a fear of spreading infectious diseases. The city commissioner has appealed to all city dwellers to support the cleanliness drive of the municipal corporation. The auction of plots will be carried out under Solid Waste Management Rules-2016. Besides, the residents of the city have appealed to plot owners and building owners to get tax assessment. So far 4,168 vacant plots have been taxed.
