Energy Minister calls for round the clock power supply in Kashi
Lucknow: State Urban Development and Energy Minister A.K. Sharma reached Varanasi to review the works of Purvanchal Vidyut Vitran Nigam and inquired about the progress of schemes and programs from the officials of the discoms.
He instructed to provide uninterrupted power supply to electricity consumers and to solve their problems soon. Along with this, instructions were given to prepare an action plan to remove power disruptions and to ensure that Varanasi gets 24-hour power supply under any circumstances.
He said that uninterrupted power supply should also be ensured in important temples and mythological places, so that the visitors do not face any problem. The Energy Minister gave instructions to improve the power system for better power supply. For this, he was also asked to replace dilapidated wire and poles, to check the load and quality of the transformer.
Transformers are the carriers of the electrical system, pay special attention to their maintenance. In the coming time, the consumers should not face any kind of problem, all the preparations should be completed from now. He also stressed on stopping power theft and said that for this an intensive checking campaign should be launched. People’s lives are at risk due to frequent electrocution in transformers, poles and dangling wires during the rainy season. For this, people should also be made aware and the reasons for the electrocution should also be investigated.
He said that the correct bills should be given to the consumers on time and for recovery from the big defaulters, they should be contacted and if needed, they should be called even late at night. Said that revenue collection should be increased, efforts should be made to achieve the target of revenue receipt in relation to power supply. Minimize line losses and avoid unnecessary power cuts. Create a defined schedule of cuts for maintenance tasks. Full responsibility should be fixed for the shutdown taken to repair the line, so that no personnel becomes a victim of electrical accident.
The Energy Minister instructed the officials to receive the phone calls of the public representatives and after listening to their problems, get them resolved immediately and also implement their suggestions. Any kind of misbehavior with the consumers in the name of investigation will not be tolerated. He asked to speed up the works of departmental schemes, so that the consumers could get their benefits soon. Said that electricity has become the main source of progress and development of a person, now it is difficult for anyone to live without electricity, everything has become dependent on electricity, so negligence in electricity supply will not be tolerated.
