Engaging session held on World Suicide Prevention Day at Lucknow University
Lucknow: Department of Psychology, University of Lucknow, in collaboration with Institute of Women’s Studies organized a hybrid mode session on the occasion of World Suicide Prevention Day on 09.09.2023 under the supervision of Dr. Archana Shukla, Head, Department of Psychology, University of Lucknow, Lucknow and Dr. Manini Srivastava, Co-ordinator,Institute of Women’s Studies, University of Lucknow, Lucknow. The objective of the session was “to create hope through action” . The speaker of the session was Dr. Saamdu Chetri, International Happiness Guru-(BBC), Founding Member, Gross National Happiness Centre, Bhutan. Around 150 students and faculty members have attended in the session. In the session he discussed, about Mindfulness and said that “Mindfulness can help in creating creative visions and ideas”. He also talked about some Happiness Mantras as suicide rates among youths are high, in which one of them was- “Be yourself, don’t look for others, go inward”
He also suggested that “You are You- Try to create Self Affirmations for yourself” .
Mr. Samdhu also sang the song “Tashi Delek: Happiness is here and now” along with the participants.
In addition to this various performances have been performed by the students such as- Nukkad Natak, Dance, Skit, Quiz, Singing, Reciting Poem.
