Lucknow: The Department of Business Administration, University of Lucknow organized a poster making competition on the occasion of Global ethics day on the theme of “Ethical dilemmas of managing business”. It was organized to make students understand the importance of ethically managing business.
The event was patronized by the hon’ble Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Alok Kumar Rai and was convened by Dr. Sangeeta Sahu, the Head of Department of Business Administration. Dr. Sangeeta Sahu said, “Navigating ethics can be a real dilemma in running a business. Still, we must remember – ethics are what makes us stand out.” The event was organized by Management Acumen Cell of the department under the coordination of Dr. Nimisha Kapoor, Dr. Ram Singh and Dr. Shilpi Singh.
Different types of suggestions were sought from the students through well designed and drawn posters, to resolve ethical conflicts. The Panel of judges included Dr. Mukul Srivastava, Professor, Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, Dr. Akanksha Singh from Department of Education and Dr. Himanshu Mohan from Department of Business Administration.
Dr. Mukul Srivastava said, “Our new generation Z shows much more ethics towards our society. They are more responsible than the older generation. Department took initiative and delivered very beautifully on this day in accordance with NEP.” Dr. Akanksha Singh said, “Even in situations where people disagree with each other about certain topics or where there are partisan and nationalistic sentiments, Global Ethics Day seeks to provide ways to listen to one another and work collaboratively to make the world a better place for everyone.” Dr. Himanshu Mohan said, “Global Ethics Day connects individuals and organizations to the idea that ethics is a powerful tool for imagining a better future. In the ever changing business worlds, ethics keep mankind alive.”
The winners were declared afterwards. The winner of the competition was the team of Mansi Kannaujiya and Amrita Singh from M.Com Applied Economics Semester 3. The first runner up was the team of Aparna Srivastava, Shreya Arya and Rajshree Gupta from BA (NEP) Semester 5 and the second runner up was the team of Anushka Chauhan and Pallavi Singh from M.Com Applied Economics Semester 3.
As a result, the students explored the significance of Global ethics day, which helps to maximize the contribution of ethics in managing business. A total of forty-four students from different departments participated in this competition who displayed their precise and specialized knowledge through this poster making. Most importantly, the students were more impressed with this activity as it was full of curiosity for them.
