Excise Department plays a major role in driving economy – Nitin Aggarwal

Meerut: Minister of State (Independent Charge) Excise and Prohibition Nitin Aggarwal while presiding over the review meeting of departmental works of Meerut and Saharanpur divisions at Circuit House  said that Excise Department has a big place in the state in revenue collection.

He said that at present the Excise Department collects revenue of about Rs.36 thousand crores, which has been targeted to increase to Rs.42 thousand crores in the current financial year. He said that for this, the departmental officers should work honestly and sincerely by making an action plan. He also reviewed the resolution plan.

Minister of State (Independent Charge) Excise and Prohibition Nitin Agarwal said that in this financial year a target of 20 percent revenue growth has been set, so every district should increase and increase revenue. He said that the higher officers should regularly review their subordinate districts. Go on the ground yourself and see the works. He said that enforcement proceedings should be made more effective. Management goals should be met. The allotments of the shop, where they are remaining, should be completed soon.

Minister of State (Independent Charge) Excise and Prohibition Nitin Aggarwal said that those involved in illegal liquor business should be identified and sent to jail with the help of police administration. He said that the officers of all the districts should work in coordination with each other to ensure that the incidents related to spurious liquor do not happen and that no loss of life should occur due to such incidents.

Minister of State (Independent Charge) Excise and Prohibition Nitin Agarwal said that an action plan should be prepared for the districts adjoining Delhi and Haryana. He said that manpower would be increased in these districts. He boosted the morale of the officers in the meeting and said that no officer would be allowed to be harassed at any level.

Keeping the progress details of Meerut and Saharanpur divisions, Joint Commissioner Excise Mahendra Singh said that 4272 raids were conducted in Meerut division in April 2021 and 4100 raids were conducted in April 2022. The quantity of liquor abducted is 16280.50 in April 2021 and 9716.50 in April 2022 and the number of arrested persons is 213 in April 2021 and 94 in April 2022, persons sent to jail 89 in April 2021 and 37 in April 2022, vehicles caught in April 2021 36 in April and 07 in April 2022.

He told that in April 2021, 1924 raids were conducted in Saharanpur division and 1872 raids were conducted in April 2022. The quantity of liquor hijacked is 9353.78 in April 2021 and 7406.20 in April 2022 and the number of arrested persons is 86 in April 2021 and 79 in April 2022, persons sent to jail 44 in April 2021 and 02 in April 2022, vehicles caught in April 2021 It is zero on 25 and April 2022.

On this occasion, Deputy Commissioner Excise Meerut RK Sharma, Deputy Commissioner Excise Saharanpur SK Rai, Assistant Excise Commissioner of Meerut and Saharanpur divisions, Excise Officer and other officers were present.
