Excitement at Kanpur Boat Club goes notches higher
Kanpur: The Boat Club established at Ganga Barrage is now giving a new identity to Kanpur. It has become the only center in UP to develop adventure tourism.
Now national level water sports competitions will be organized here. This information was given by Divisional Commissioner Kanpur Dr. Raj Shekhar in an interaction with the media recently. He said that now national level water sports competition in Kanpur Boat Club will be held in Kayaking, Canoeing and Rowing.
The Boat Club established here at Ganga Barrage is now giving a new identity to Kanpur. Such boat clubs in the country are built only in some major cities like Goa, Mumbai, Chennai, Chandigarh, Bhopal, Kolkata.
Significantly, the Kanpur boat Club was inaugurated on 24 November. Initially one motor boat, one speed motor boat, 2 water scooters were available for thrilling boat ride in Boat Club.
Seeing the increasing enthusiasm for Boat Club in Kanpur, the need for more boats was being felt here.
In view of this, the much awaited Boat Club could be completed with the efforts of Boat Club President and Divisional Commissioner Dr. Raj Shekhar.
Recently, two more speed boats have joined the boat fleet. As a result of these efforts, one more 7 seater speed motor boat joined the fleet recently. As the first ride on this boat, Commissioner Dr. Raj Shekhar took a trip in the river Ganga. During this Dr. Raj Shekhar saw the facilities available and heard the enthusiasm of the adventure enthusiasts present.
Dr. Raj Shekhar said that now 4 speed boats, one jet ski, two water scooters, one free board and one motor boat are available in the boat club’s fleet, now people will not have to wait.
Adequate life jackets are available for safety and along with that staff is deployed there. Boat club secretary Neeraj Srivastava said another boat is coming next week another which will make life even more exciting.
