Lucknow: State’s Urban Development and Energy Minister AK Sharma said that the Yogi government of the state stands with the farmers, poor and helpless in their happiness and sorrow and is constantly trying to improve their standard of living. The Minister was replying to the questions asked by the opposition during the Question Hour in the Vidhan Sabha . He said that the Yogi government believes in fulfilling what it says. Efforts are being made to fulfill the promises made in the resolution letter.
In response to the question asked by the opposition members Pankaj Malik and Lalji Verma on setting up new power units, increasing power generation and providing adequate power to the farmers, Minister AK Sharma said that new units have been set up in Jawaharpur, Panki, Harduaganj and Ghatampur. are being installed.
At present, 13,491 MW of power is being generated, which is sufficient according to the present demand of 13,356 MW, but the consumption of power increases during peak demand, for which additional power is purchased from the power exchange.
Last year, peak demand of 26,590 MW was in summer. In the case of farmers, he said that farmers are being given power for 10 hours as per roster from separate feeders. For this, 2390 feeders have been separated, now 5000 more feeders are to be separated. The state government has made arrangements to give 100 percent exemption in the electricity bills of the private tube wells of the farmers. Provision has also been made for this in the budget.
AK Sharma, in response to the question raised by members Uma Shankar Chowdhary and Shivpal Singh Yadav regarding electrification, said that the work of electrification has been completed in all the revenue villages of the state. 1,21,324 villages have also been electrified, but still 36,900 villages are yet to be electrified in the state, for which the central government has been requested to give Rs 1,958 crore.
As soon as the funds are received, the work will be started as soon as possible. Responding to the question of power dues in the departments of Mehboob Ali and Awadhesh Prasad, facility of bill payment and harassment of the poor and farmers in the name of power theft. For the convenience of all the departments to deposit their bills, a centralized system has been implemented, under which all the heads of the departments will deposit the electricity bills of their respective departments.
