February 10 onwards massive anti filaria campaign to be held

Lucknow: Mass drug intake program will be started in the district from February 10 to prevent filariasis. During the 10-day special campaign, people will be fed medicine to prevent filariasis by going door-to-door. In this campaign, district level trainees were trained in the Chief Medical Officer’s office. On this occasion, Additional Director of National Vector Borne Control Program-Uttar Pradesh, Dr. V.P. Singh said that this campaign will be started from February 10 in 19 districts including Lucknow. Dr. Singh said that prevention of filariasis is the only correct treatment. That’s why by running a campaign, medicine to prevent filariasis is fed once every year in the districts. Everyone has to take this medicine except children below two years of age, pregnant and people suffering from serious illness. The campaign is being run under the Mass Drug Administration (MDA). For the first time in the district, under this campaign, Ivermectin medicine will be given along with Di Ethyl Carbamazine (DEC) and Albendazole. of ivermectin

The tablet will be given according to the height.

On this occasion, Nodal Officer of National Vector Borne Disease Control Program Dr. Bimal Baiswar said that filariasis is caused by mosquito bite. Its symptoms appear after five to 15 years and by then it is too late. So avoid mosquitoes and when ASHA workers come to feed medicine, eat yourself and encourage family members and people around to consume medicine. The campaign will be run with the mutual cooperation of Health, Panchayati Raj, Education, Social Welfare, ICDS, Urban Development and Information Departments. On this occasion, District Malaria Officer Dr. Ritu Srivastava said that the drug should not be consumed on an empty stomach. Before the campaign, door-to-door survey is being done by ASHA to know the condition of people suffering from this disease in the district. People who have filarial germs may have problems like dizziness, nausea, vomiting, mild fever etc. after consuming the medicine, but they should not panic.

In this campaign, medicines will be distributed door-to-door through ANM, Asha and Anganwadi workers, whoever is deprived of medicines can go to the nearest government health units and malaria office and get medicines. Every person must take this medicine once in a year. If this medicine is consumed for two years, then you can avoid filarial disease for the whole life. If a person gets this disease, then he suffers from this disease throughout his life. On this occasion, District Surveillance Officer Dr. Nishant Nirvana, Deputy Chief Medical Officer Dr. Somnath, District Health Education and Information Officer Yogesh Raghuvanshi, other officers of Health Department, Medical Superintendents of all Community Health Centers, Dr. Nityanand from World Health Organization and Representatives of NGO PATH, Project Concern International (PCI) and CIFAR were present.
