Final voter list will be published on January 5 – CEC Sushil Chandra

Lucknow: The officials of the Election Commission, who arrived on a three-day tour in Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh, held a meeting with the leaders of all the parties on Wednesday along with taking stock of the election preparations. After this, while holding a press conference on Thursday morning, the Chief Election Commissioner said that we have talked to all the political parties and have taken suggestions. It will be our endeavor to have maximum participation of people. Along with this, in the meeting of the Commission, the Election Commission said that in this election, voters will be given the facility to vote from home with terms and conditions.

For the first time in UP, the Election Commission is going to give the facility to vote from home. According to the EC, the facility of voting from home will also be available but with terms and conditions. Senior citizens or Divyangjan who do not want to come to the polling booth or they are affected by Covid, the team of Election Commission will go to their house and get the polling done. During this, complete transparency will be maintained. Votes will be taken by secret ballot. Earlier it was started in Bihar, where only 3 per cent people had voted from home.

The Election Commission said that the officers who have been posted at the same place for more than 3 years are being transferred. More than 5000 policemen have been transferred. CCTV surveillance will be done at all border posts during the elections. According to the Election Commission, complaints of violation of the election code of conduct can be made through the C-Vigil app, not only this, action will be taken on the complaint within 100 minutes. Photos and other complaints can be sent through c-Vigil.

Along with this, the officers of the commission said during the press conference that if people with criminal background will stand in the election, then they will not only have to tell about their criminal history but will also have to answer to that political party that that person should be elected on behalf of the party. Why was the ticket given? Not only this, candidates with criminal background will have to be told to the public, for this it will have to be told through TV and newspapers. Any activity affecting the Election Commission will be taken into account.

Other highlights of the press conference
1- The Election Commission said that the program of voter registration is also going on. A lot of hard work has gone into that. The final voter list will be published on January 5. Till now more than 15 crore voters are registered.
2- Even till the last date of filing nomination, voters can claim and object about their name in the list. There are 23.9 lakh male voters and 28.8 lakh female voters. 52.8 lakh new voters have been added. Of these, there are 19.89 lakh youth voters, that is, their age is 18-19 years.
3- The Election Commission said that in 2017 the sex ratio was 839 i.e. there were 839 female voters per 1000 males. This time it has increased to 868. At present there are 10 lakh 64 thousand 267 Divyang voters in Uttar Pradesh.
4- 800 polling stations will be made in such a way where there will be only women polling officers. Apart from the EPIC card, the voter can cast his vote by showing 11 other documents. This includes documents like PAN card, Aadhar card, MNREGA card.
5- In view of Corona, one booth per 1500 people has been reduced to one booth for 1250 people. This has increased 11,000 booths. Every polling booth will have water, electricity and toilet facilities. There will be provision for wheelchairs and ramps for the differently-abled.
